Confronting the top 10 threats within the church
Ecumenism of Roman Catholic & Protestant Churches
Imagine some people started a new ‘church’ and proposed to join hands with
yours. Would your church accept their proposal if it learned the following
about them:
They think your church is a cult.
They want your senior
pastor to submit to and heed whatever their senior pastor says.
They say that another way to heaven exists besides Jesus.
They claim
that their pastor can make Jesus' human flesh and blood to appear on their
command.
They claim that people need to commit cannibalism on Jesus human flesh and
blood once a week to be saved.
That ‘church’ already exists. It's Roman Catholicism. While its
American version presents a softer face, Catholic priests in Europe still preach
that all Protestant churches are cults, everyone should obey the Pope, and
Mary can save us. Not only do they say the bread and wine turn into Jesus’ human
flesh and blood on their command, they invite their congregants to eat
Jesus’ human flesh while the priest drinks the
blood. Roman Catholicism isn’t a different part of the body of Christ; it
is an abomination to it, and for every Catholic who still attends mass,
there are dozens who have been emotionally, spiritually and/or physically
scarred and who have become resistant to anything that has to do with “church”
or the misrepresented version of Jesus they have experienced.
Those who promote Protestant-Catholic ecumenism do so in the hopes of
seeking strength in numbers. But strength lies in God, who only wants those
who will glorify Him as He wants to be glorified. After all, He granted
victory to Gideon’s army only after it had been reduced to 1% of its
original size - from 32,000 to 300 - for this reason:
“The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into
their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own
hand has saved me.’ Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people,
saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from
Mount Gilead.’” And twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten
thousand remained. But the LORD said to Gideon, “The people are still too
many; bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. Then
it will be, that of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ the
same shall go with you; and of whomever I say to you, ‘This one shall not go
with you,’ the same shall not go.” So he brought the people down to the
water. And the LORD said to Gideon, “Everyone who laps from the water with
his tongue, as a dog laps, you shall set apart by himself; likewise everyone
who gets down on his knees to drink.” And the number of those who lapped,
putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men; but all the rest
of the people got down on their knees to drink water. Then the LORD said to
Gideon, “By the three hundred men who lapped I will save you, and deliver
the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, every man to his
place.” (Judges 7:2-7)
What should be done?
1. Trust in the power of God instead of human headcount.
2. Join forces only with those who believe in and honor Jesus as per the bible.
3. Sever ties with all cults and sects, Roman Catholics included.
